信言不美，美言不信。善者不辩，辩者不善。知者不博，博者不知。圣人不积，既以为人己愈有，既以与人己愈多。天之道，利而不害。圣人之道，为而不争。
Translation & Meaning
真诚质朴的话语往往不华丽讨巧，华丽讨巧的辞令往往不真诚可信。真正良善笃行的人不逞巧辩，好逞口舌巧辩的人往往不够醇善。真正通达大道的人不炫耀驳杂见闻，卖弄广博碎知的人往往并未彻悟根本。 圣人从不自私囤积：越是尽力帮助他人，自己的精神与格局便越发丰盈；越是慷慨施予他人，自己的德泽与福慧便越发充沛。 自然天道的准则，是普利万物而从不加害；圣人行道的准则，是尽心施为而从不争夺。
