吾言甚易知，甚易行。天下莫能知，莫能行。言有宗，事有君，夫唯无知，是以不我知。知我者希，则我者贵。是以圣人被褐而怀玉。

Translation & Meaning

我所說的道理其實非常容易理解，非常容易踐行；然而世人卻偏偏沒人能真正領悟，沒人肯真正實行。 我的言論有其大道宗旨，我的行事有其內在主宰。正因為世人被私欲巧智遮蔽而不明這一本源，所以才無法理解我。 真正懂得我的人越是稀少，效法大道而行就越顯珍貴。因此聖人外表穿著粗布褐衣，胸中卻懷藏著溫潤無瑕的美玉。

Commentary

青禾散人評注：大道至簡，難在人心不肯放下貪嗔與機巧。「被褐懷玉」——外在樸素低調如布衣，內在澄明尊貴如寶玉，無須世人喧嘩認可。
